2018 Emergency Exercise Drill

Aztec, NM –   Every year in September, San Juan County Office of Emergency Management in partnership with local law enforcement, emergency services, and industry, work together to create a simulated real world disaster training.  Participating agencies and businesses spent most of the year planning the one-day simulation, beginning with a Homeland Security Orientation Seminar, held in January and culminating in a Full Scale Disaster Simulation on September 12, 2018 from 8am to Noon.

This year NM Gas Co. stepped up to sponsor the event.  The event took place at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center.

San Juan County Emergency Management would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding during the disaster simulations. Disaster Simulation training is designed to mimic real world events.

This year Enterprise Products stepped up to sponsor the event.  Municipal Dr. in Farmington will have restricted access with areas around Farmington City Hall and Reilly Ave. being closed during set up of the simulation, thru the day as the simulation progresses, until the area has been released after Noon.

San Juan County Emergency Management would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding during the disaster simulations. Disaster Simulation training is designed to mimic real world events. 

Responders will be reacting as if the simulation is a “real event” and to observers, the simulation may seem real. 
Please remember that this is just a training simulation.
San Juan County’s Exercise Program gives response agencies and industry personnel a chance to practice working together in a simulated emergency/disaster situation. These programs are just one of the many ways San Juan County Office of Emergency Management, local law enforcement and emergency services, and industry are working in partnership to ensure a safer community.
The City of Farmington, Farmington Police Department, San Juan County Office of Emergency Management, and San Juan County Sheriff’s Office social media sites will be updated regularly with information prior to and during the simulation.
